Any results on the endoscopy yet? Probably not, huh. They always make you wait a week or two and make you go back in for the results. A damn phone call is all they really need to provide. But, they can't charge for that! lol

I'm sorry about the diabetes. However, there are worse things! My daughter (who turned twenty this year) was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes when she was six. Talk about a crash course in how to deal with diabetes! They wouldn't let her leave the hospital until I proved myself efficient with testing her blood sugar levels and giving her insulin shots. I don't think there's anything quite like having to give your six year old shots. I'm so thankful that she wasn't diagnosed any younger! I'm not sure I could have handled sticking needles into a toddler. She's been on the pump since about fourth grade, now.

I'm going to put together an email for you today with links to some sites with good info and products and recipes and so forth on everything from gluten-free cooking to bariatric recipes. The bariatric recipes are great for diabetics. AND they'll help you get the weight off. :)

Ulu - Indeed! I'd really be screwed if I didn't..so lucky that the SO's company allows him to add a 'domestic partner' to his policy!

SM - Yeah, I go back in 2 weeks, though I did request for the results to be sent to me as well as my GP, so I may get those before I even see the gastro doc again. I did have some inflammation of my duodenum, not sure what the significance of that is in relation to a diagnosis of celiac disease though.

Oh wow, that must have been so hard; sucky enough to watch your child cry when they get their immunizations, but to be the one sticking them, and to have to do it every day..ugh. You're right though, there are WAY worse things, & my numbers are relatively low as numbers go; diet & such may get me back down to normal if I'm lucky. :)

Oh thank you so much! I'm hoping that if I am diagnosed with celiac disease, that they'll refer me to a nutritionist or dietitian (is there actually a difference between the two? lol)..I'm making gradual progress each day in what foods are good and bad for the diabetes, but throw in no gluten & that narrows things down a LOT; it's all kind of overwhelming all at once. Losing weight will be lovely though; I had to chuckle to myself when the GP said 'you need to lose 70-80 lbs'..dude, if it were that easy, don't you think I'd have done so by now? LOL At least the diabetes has made me give up all my favorite bad-for-me-but-oh-so-yummy carbs..that alone will make a big difference, I'm betting.

Thanks so much for your support, ladies :)

SM - thank you again for the novel, you really went all out; I appreciate it so much! I'm really feeling rather overwhelmed & scattered right now, it seems like there's new stuff coming at me left & right nonstop. :surrender: So it helps a lot to have a helping hand from someone who's been there & done that with some of it, & I know that e-mail took quite a while to sit down & write, so just know that I am SO grateful.

Ulu - no worries, m'dear; I appreciate you keeping me in your thoughts, you certainly don't have to respond every time I whine..err..post here. ;)

I feel like an ancient old woman, always sniveling about my poor health..egads, Gotta stop that. *g* Speaking of which..non-health related post coming up next! :D

New ogham set - American oak

Postby caitlin » Mon Jun 07, 2010 8:23 pm

My latest ogham set, made of American oak..this is just after shaping and rough sanding. I finished the fine sanding & am currently doing the woodburning..then they'll need the finish applied, & they'll be done. I really love oak, the grain's so beautiful.. (please excuse the deviantArt watermark)

Caitlin? Two things.

First? "Whine"?? WTF? Honey, you don't come here to whine. What you share with us is what's on your mind and what's going on with you, in your life. Just like everyone else around here. That's not whining. LOL! That's living. And thank you for letting us share in that!

Second? Woot! I love working with oak, I can't wait to see the set finished!

Aww Chain, bless your heart..I really do feel like I whine a lot lately, but thank you. :)

And yeah, the oak is such a joy to work with..it's just gorgeous. I can't wait to see them when they're done either! :)

I found what I was missing in the email I sent you. Check this out and look through the site.

SavingDinner.com
20 Gluten-Free for the Freezer

I have two of the Saving Dinner cookbooks and I use them a lot. Good recipes. I get the newsletter, too, in my email. This week, the email mentioned the gluten-free "20 for the Freezer" thingy which reminded me that I had wanted to include this site in your email. The 20 for the Freezer thing is a compiled list of recipes and the corresponding shopping list that will allow you to assemble twenty dinners to tuck away into the freezer for cooking whenever. Kind of like those assembly-line places you can go to do the same thing. I've never tried this, but I've been tempted. Anyway, the gluten-free caught my eye and I wanted to clue you in.
